Plains of Abraham
Expansive historic urban park where the famous 1759 battle took place.
The Plains of Abraham is a large historic area inside Battlefields Park, best known as the site of the 1759 battle that shaped Quebec City’s future. Today it is less a formal monument and more a broad urban park, with open lawns, views, and plenty of room for walking, sports, and events. It is worth visiting if you want a place where history and local outdoor life overlap; if you are expecting a tightly curated museum experience, this is not that kind of stop.

Notre-Dame de Québec Basilica-Cathedral
The oldest episcopal see in North America with ornate golden interiors.
It is worth a stop if you appreciate landmark churches, heritage architecture, or the layered history of Old Quebec. Inside, expect a quietly impressive space rather than a flashy one: the appeal is in the atmosphere, craftsmanship, and the sense that you are standing in a deeply significant place. It is best paired with a walk through the surrounding historic district, where the setting adds much of the experience.

Dufferin Terrace
Stroll along the iconic wooden boardwalk overlooking the river.
Dufferin Terrace is a broad promenade that curves around the base of the Château Frontenac and leads toward the Citadelle, making it one of the easiest places to take in Quebec City’s skyline and river setting. It is worth a stop for the views, the atmosphere, and the simple pleasure of walking an iconic stretch of the old city. Expect a lively, exposed public space rather than a museum-like attraction.

Parliament Building
Admire the Second Empire architecture and grounds at golden hour.
The Parliament Building is where Quebec’s legislature meets, but it is also one of the city’s most recognizable architectural statements. Even if you are not following politics, it is worth a look for the sense of history, formality, and public symbolism it brings to the city center. Expect an institution that feels more stately than touristy, with the appeal coming from the building itself and the atmosphere around it.
